When you book your appointment, you will need to provide the details for one valid piece of government identification. "Valid" means the identification is not expired.

You will need to show this identification to your notary during the online notary appointment.

Identification expired after March 2020

If your Government of Ontario identification (including driver’s licences and photo ID cards) expired during or after March 2020, your identification is valid until February 28, 2022 because the Government has extended the renewal requirements due to COVID-19.

When you book your online notary appointment, you will be asked for the expiry date of your identification. Please indicate the expiry date of your identification as February 28, 2022.

No valid identification

If you don't believe you have any non-expired identification, please contact hello@notarize.ca for further assistance. We will try to help find a solution for you
